25/02/2002 Aston Martin reveals plans to leave Bloxham
Aston Martin have Today announced plans to move production of their exclusive cars from Bloxham near Banbury to Gaydon in Warwickshire. Car production at Newport Pagnell will also move to Gaydon. The new production line is currently being set up in Gaydon by Aston Martin. Aston Martin was founded in a small London workshop in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford The company has grown into one of the worlds finest producers of luxury sports cars. In almost 90 years the company has only produced just over 16,000 cars. 80% of all Aston Martins ever built are still in use today. Aston Martin customers have been able to visit the company’s workshops in Bloxham and Newport Pagnell to see their own unique Aston Martin being created. This tradition is expected to continue at the new Gaydon factory. Because of his love of motor sports, tractor tycoon David Brown bought the company in 1947.
