National Shortage of Lorry Drivers |
Britain is facing a shortage of lorry drivers according to new report from the Freight Transport Association. The FTA is launching a major programme to attract drivers to the industry. There are not enough drivers to deal with the current needs and the problems will worsen over the coming years. The Freight Transport Association is undertaking a major programme of activity designed to display the attractions of a career as a driver in the transport industry. Part of this programme is to identify available sources of funding for driver training. FTA has now published a guide leaflet identifying such sources.
FTA's skills manager Sally Thornley said "The UK transport and logistics industry, an acknowledged world leader, is likely to suffer from a basic labour shortage in the near future,"
