10/10/2003 B4525 Welsh Lane 'Red Route'

Map for B4525 Welsh Lane

New signs have been placed along the B4525 Welsh Lane between Syresham (A43) and the Middleton Cheney roundabout (A422) to Banbury.

As the signs warn, there have been 39 casualties in the last 3 years! This makes the Welsh lane one of the worst in Northamptonshire.

Roads are changed to Red Routes following concerns from The Police, the County Council and the Highways Agency.

The B4525 is especially bad due to the number of sharp bends with high hedges and trees close to the carriageway.

Most of the road is still National speed limit (60mph) although there are two sections of 40 mph with fixed speed cameras.

Two roundabouts have also been proposed for the crossroads at Helmdon and Chacombe to reduce the number of accidents at these black spots.
